Sectional Furniture and Reclining Sectional Sofa Beds

Sectional furniture is available in many formats, and reclining sectional sofa beds are just one of these. By far the most common reason for people purchasing sectionals for their home relates to adaptability. The ease with which such furniture can be selected to fit into many different sizes and designs of rooms is a significant unique selling point: if standard living room furniture won't fit then sectionals will!

This is certainly true, although what problems actually do arise with ordinary sofas and chairs that make sectionals the only alternative option? Our grandparents and even parents in most cases managed to furnish their homes without resorting to sectionals, so what is their primary attraction?

Adaptability of Sectional Furniture

The first attraction is adaptability. One of the more attractive features of sectional furniture is the fact that it can be arranged to fit almost any room geometry and size.  No room is too large or too small, too square or too oval, to accommodate sectional furniture.  In fact, many people with small apartments use reclining sectional sofa beds as their main sofa and their only bed. This is often the case with studio apartments with only one room - the living room is also the bedroom!

In cases where sofa beds are frequently used, or even when, as above, a sofa bed is the only bed in the house, it may be part of an overall multifunctional sectional arrangement were a sofa is a bed and  the chairs are recliners that can also recline almost horizontally to create single beds of their own.

This type of arrangement is not as uncommon as you might believe, since many people live in relatively small apartments,  lofts or even condos where using one of the available rooms only for sleeping in is  not a viable option. When you consider the function of a bedroom and the furniture needed to meet the requirements, it could be considered a significant waste of valuable space to use a room only for sleeping in!

Bedroom Furniture Requirements

What do you need in a bedroom? Fundamentally, only this:

  • A bed
  • A . . .?

You could argue in favor of space for your clothing, an en-suite (why - if you are the only resident?) and other storage space.  If you have a bathroom in your apartment, a chest of drawers and somewhere to hang some clothes then why do you have to devote a whole room to sleeping?

One room containing sectional furniture, particularly reclining sectional sofa beds, a chest of drawers and a cupboard or wardrobe is all you need.  Two sofa beds offer seating for at least six and a bed for four (assuming they get along with each other.) Some reclining armchairs extend almost to the horizontal, and at least sufficient to offer a comfortable single bed for a night.

A single sectional sofa bed and chair arrangement is good for a small apartment room. If you move to a larger house you can add another sofa or a pair of recliner chairs to that. If you have made your initial purchase from a reputable American furniture company then you should find it fairly easy to find matching pieces for your sectionals.

Outlets for Reclining Sectional Sofa Beds

Companies such as MotionCraft, Stickley and Sherrill can offer you a fabulous section of high quality sectional furniture and reclining sectional sofa beds to match almost any existing décor in your room. Even if you like furniture that clashes with your existing decor, it is possible to add some rugs or colorful home accents to bring it all together.

However, most of these companies market their products only through approved retailers and furniture outlets such as Patterson Furniture. Although you can view the products of these firms on our website at www.PattersonFurniture.com you are best advised to visit our showrooms in Roswell and Lilburn in Atlanta. Then you can enjoy the sheer beauty of such furniture along with its functionality.

Must Your Furniture Match?

Too many people get too het up about whether their furniture and home decor are matching.  At the end of the day, does it really matter? Surely what is important is your comfort and how secure you feel in your own home.  Irrespective of that, there is such a large selection of reclining sectional sofa beds and sectional furniture in general that you should never be wanting for something to suit an existing room.

Let's face it, nobody is perfect, and it is too easy to make mistakes by seeking perfection.  Sectional furniture and reclining sectional sofa beds are gorgeous pieces of furniture without you worrying about whether their design suits your current home décor! If you like it, then it matches! If you find it comfortable then what more can you as for - relax and enjoy your new sectional furniture. You will have it for a long time - more than long enough to decorate around it!
