PASADENA BUNGALOW

The
Pasadena Bungalow Collection is highly influenced by the arts and crafts
homes of Pasadena, California and early 20th century designers like
Greene & Greene. We’ve given these clean yet fanciful designs an
unexpected twist by creating them in exotic sapelli wood from western
Africa’s Ivory Coast, with accents of African black wood. This collection will lend a truly unique flavor to your home.

A Stickley tribute to a treasured
and timeless design influence
from THE
PACIFIC COAST The Pasadena Bungalow Collection draws its inspiration
from the works of Charles and Henry Greene, renowned California-based
architects of the late 19th and early 20th century. The Greene brothers
brought the Arts & Crafts Movement to the AmericanWest at the same
time that Gustav and Leopold Stickley were championing it in New York
state. The Greenes believed in a totally designed environment,
encompassing the home, its site, and its furnishings, incorporating Art
Noveau, Craftsman style and Asian influences from the Pacific Rim.
Smooth, rounded edges, elaborately pegged joints, and intricate inlay
were hallmarks of Greene & Greene furniture. The Pasadena Bungalow
pieces are crafted from sapelli wood with accents of African Blackwood.
A hardwood, sapelli comes from Eastern and Western Africa. Sapelli
is called Gold Coast cedar by some
because it has a cedar-like aroma when first cut. Its color is said to
be similar to African mahogany, while its strength properties have been
compared to oak.
